Finally, Update 1 renames SkyDrive to OneDrive, which has also been confirmed by Winsupersite. That means that part of the desktop UI will be available even when Windows 8.1 is running in full Modern UI mode. The article also says that moving the mouse down to the bottom of the screen while a Modern app is in full operation brings up the taskbar. This will allow for quick access to fiuctions such as play, pause and rewind when the app is running in the background. Modern apps have already been shown as being able to be placed on the taskbar with Update 1 and now they can also support jumplists, such as the above screenshot which shows the Microsoft Reader program.Īnother small but helpful feature is that Modern media apps such as Xbox Music, which placed in the taskbar, can pop up a media control when the cursor is hovering over the icon. Jumplists were introduced for desktop apps in Windows 7 when pinned to the taskbar, the apps can reveal specific features and items in a list by right-clicking on the icon. One of those new features is the addition of jumplists for Modern-style Windows 8 apps. The folks at McAkins Online are some of those brave souls and have reported on a number of small, but still important, new feature that will be part of Update 1. Some adventurous PC users have installed and used the latest leaked build of Windows 8.1 Update 1 and have found even more features that will make accessing Microsoft's latest OS easier for people who use a keyboard and mouse.
